Meanwhile, 42-year-old math teacher Dudi Wahyudi is leading his school’s push to adopt an online learning management system (LMS) and the complementary offline modules, due in large part to the lack of access that his students have to the internet and digital devices.
“Lebak [regency in Banten] is located just two hours away from Jakarta, and yet, you’d be surprised how bad the internet connection is,” Dudi told the Post on Thursday.
“All we know as teachers is that we have to innovate.”
After what he called a “long and arduous process”, Dudi’s SMA 1 Cikulur high school finally settled on an LMS in late 2020 using the school’s own website, geared for students with digital devices living at homes with internet access.
And although the new system managed to curb the impacts of loss of learning for students with access, Dudi said it was still a problem for those who were less fortunate.
“The government has been going on and on about online learning, but they don’t pay enough attention to areas without internet access,” he explained.
“If it wants to counter learning loss, the government needs to consider all aspects of online learning.”
